Hey guys and gurls! (Legal?) Advice RE: Dedicated Server thread i am going to change hosts. I basically need a host with 500+GB monthly usage, 100MB/s+ Connection and a 80GB+ HD for under £30/month.

I don't mind where it's based (preferably UK/US/DE). If worst comes to worst i will have to go back to ValueServer :(

Thanks

Good luck on your search. You'll notice that you're really looking at the very very low end of the market at your price range. You'll be lucky to get 1U of rackspace with power and bandwidth these days for that price, let alone some hardware included too (and the appropriate guarantees with that hardware that if a hard disk goes or something else bad happens, it will get replaced in a timely manner).

In my opinion, you're setting yourself up for a fall again. Pricing at those levels are not sustainable in the long term without cutting corners somewhere - that can be not having APC remote reboot ports as standard, using substandard hardware (using generic brands and/or even not even using rackmount servers - using tower PCs on breadracks to save money). The unfortunate thing is, that support is also likely to be not as good. The measure of a company is how well it performs when you have an issue or difficulty...

£30 a month gets you a nice VPS (virtual private server) with 256MB of RAM, 20GB hard disk space with a cPanel licence and 500GB of data transfer on a top of the range server with RAID etc.

But you pays your money, you makes your choice. You can always have a look at www.forum2.co.uk, it's a web hosting discussion forum based around primarily UK based companies. :)

As daz has said, put a post in the requests section on the forum2 site and then wait for the hosting companies to approach you.

Dan.
