Hi

I'm looking at upgrading my PC in the next couple of weeks but I'm not sure what CPU/mobo to get. I've read that AMD will be lowering the prices of their CPU's at the end of the month when Intel release their new CPU. Would it be worth sticking with AMD or should I go with Intel? I'll mainly be using the PC for basic music recording(my bass guitar) and gaming.

I'm also looking to buy a new case, DVD-RW, RAM and possibly a new HDD. My budget for those including the CPU and mobo would ideally be around £400-£450. I'll probably have to spend another £300-£400 on a music soundcard and monitor speakers.

Any help would be appreciated :) .

Thanks.

For the money I might go for something like this, I'm not too sure about the motherboard but it claims to fit Core Duo2 CPUs and is within your budget. The rest of the parts are all good quality. If the budget is really tight then you might be better going with X2 CPUs but either way you will probably need a new graphics card and Ram.
