Hi All,

i'm going to be building a new computer and was wondering what to go for these days.

i'm looking to upgrade my pc and i'm going to spend around £700-£750

i've got a dell 24" monitor which i run at 1900*1200 so i need a graphics card which will be ok for this.

also has to be the intel quad q9450 chip.

i would like a gigabyte board but dont really know which one is the asus x38 chip better.

ram i would rather have 2gb of fast ram rather than 4gb of slow ram as i will buy more later down the line.

also need at least 500gb hard drive

generaly i will be mostly using this computer for music production and not games but i still would like to have the choice of playing a game or 2.

thanks for all your help people..

i'm not going to overclock it as of yet but might do later on.

also need a case and psu to go with all this spec the case does not need to be fancy at all.

waza

Welcome to the forums, this might be suitable although I've currently left out a soundcard since I don't know exactly how seriously you take your music production and it could alter the final cost quite significantly.

if i changed the graphics card to OcUK GeForce 8800 GT 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail would the psu be able to handle all of this load or is it too much for it.

thanks semi you just saved me as i was already over strecthing my budget way too much as it is, i dont care what it looks like as long as the pieces inside are good. :)
