My mate wants me to build him a pc ... His max budget is £650 , going to be used purely for gaming. He just needs the tower please, he's god a cd drive and wifi adaptor.. He does need an os though if possible .

I have speced a Z board and an I3 but have the option to upgrade to an I-5 and overclock in the future. 16 gb of ram cus is so cheap at the momment but the build can be reshuffled to suit.

Re-jigged Micky's spec to fit in a slightly better GPU and a 1tb HDD. Compromises are the motherboard (m-ATX without overclocking) and a non-modular PSU.

Postage is free for forum members too, and with the saving brings it to a shade under budget (21p - don't spend it all in the same shop..)

Cheers both , what's that i3 like ? Not read much about them, I'm guessing that's going to be the best option with his budget ?

It's a solid chip with good single core performance. The hyperthreading helps with multi-core applications. As you say, at his budget it's hard to beat

The I3 is a great performer and will do well at 1080p with a 380/x if you can source a copy of windows then that would allow expansion to the spec.
