Hi guys

I am upgrading my old desktop PC, used for Web, Email

Budget is £300.00 - I don't need OS, monitor, k/b or mouse.

Need case/Psu and SSD though! :D

I don't mind AMD or Intel..!

TIA

-- Phill

This is about as good as I could get, if you can salvage an optical drive or HDD from your old computer than you might be able to stay in budget:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Xenon AMD Athlon X2 255 3.10GHz Bundle - Dual Core £119.99
1 x Crucial RealSSD M4 64GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive £99.98
1 x Cooler Master Elite 430 Windowed Case - Black (with 500w Elite Power PSU) £64.99
1 x Samsung SpinPoint F1 750GB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (HD753LJ) £26.99
1 x Samsung SH-S222AB/BEBE 22x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £16.99
Total : £331.19 (includes shipping : FREE).

I could have also gone for the slightly cheaper OCZ Agility SSD but there are some reliability issues apparently

EDIT: Beaten by Cookeh but as you can see, there isn't a lot of choice at this price range, for £300 and including an SSD, AMD is your only hope.

if you plan on adding a new graphics card, you will need to change the PSU. it will be fine for what you have, but i really wouldnt trust it for anything else

*edit*
ive just noticed you get free shipping when you link your shop account to your forum account, so its in budget :)
also, why are you guys all suggesting the newer sata 3 SSD's when he only has sata 2 available to him. they will be slowed down quite a lot so its probably better getting a bigger ut slower drive that was sata 2 to start with

Just so you had a choice, if you do have a HDD and an optical drive spare, there is an Intel option that I found.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Crucial RealSSD M4 64GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive £99.98
1 x "Primo Ascension" Intel Core i3 H55 DDR3 Ready Barebones (Socket 1156) £89.99
1 x Intel Core i3 540 3.06GHz (Clarkdale) (Socket LGA1156) - Retail £81.59
1 x Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX4GX3M2A1600C9) £32.99
Total : £304.55 (includes shipping : FREE).

A comparison between this and the AMD can be found here The i3 wins at almost everything

No good.

Theres no video outputs on the board and the PSU is not to be trusted.
