Happy Holidays Overclockers :D

Anyway been lurking for a while on the forums observing other peoples choices and now with some cash (<3 xmas :P) i can afford to get a decent rig. It'll be used for gaming mainly , i thought about a quad core but i don't want a Q6600 as they're end of production pretty much so i went for a C2D . I was hoping to do some overclocking , so i picked the TRUE black as it was on offer this week :)

Here's what i've specced so far , although i've sourced some parts from elsewere as they were cheaper. (I hope i can say that ) Also any changes and advice would be more than welcome.

Thanks :D

Doesn't Crucial Ballistix fail a lot?

GeIL, G.Skill or Corsair are good.
Does it ? I only chose it because it was the same price as some corsair with looser timings. Maybe I'll pick the corsair :)

640GB HDD is better than 500GB (faster).

Is that because of two 320gb platters ? I was told elsewhere that 500gb was faster .

Thanks ;)

Yeah, 640GB is better.

Crucial does fail a lot (although I think its mainly the sticks with the yellow heatsinks). They have a very fast RMA service though (kind of like Hiper).

Corsair or GeIL is awesome. Corsair RMA's to the U.S. (or maybe the Netherlands now for RAM) but its incredibly reliable so thats mostly irrelevant.

Oki doki , i'll have a look for some other ram and the price isn't even noticable for a 640gb hd :P Is it best to set 2 320gb partitions , one for the the os and one for storage which will increase the speed of loading ?

Thanks again :)

Possibly, I don't know much about partitions or RAID, etc. I'd imagine the difference to be minimal in regards to that specific example.

I guess two separate 320GB HDD's in RAID would be faster...

Probably , but i can't strech to that :P
