Hi,

I am getting really bored of waiting for Bulldozer and my s775 rig is starting to annoy me quite a lot. So I think I may need to bite the bullet and go for a SandyBridge.

I have a gtx470 and my display is only a Samsung SyncMaster 206BW (1680 x 1050 native res). I mostly just use the one display but occasionally I connect a 32" TV via HDMI and watch a film whilst playing a game.

I would like to OC the CPU but nothing extreme, 4.2 is probably about what I will be looking for. I don't think I will SLI the 470. I will probably try and make it last another 12 months and then just upgrade, the 400 series is just too hot and power hungry but I don't want to rule out SLI entirely.

So, how does this look?

Looks very good, if you check the prices again you should find that the same RAM and CPU cooler are now a bit cheaper - so saving you a few quid.

I would suggest spending the money you just saved towards this bigger, faster SSD.

I will probably only stick my OS on the SDD. Do you know if there is much difference between the 3's and the 2.5's? I am affraid I don't know a fat lot about SSD's.

I'm not quite sure what you mean, they are both 2.5in drives. The Agility 3 (which uses a current generation SF2200 series controller) is a much faster drive than the corsair F40 (which uses the last generation SF1200 controller). It is also 50% larger in capacity - so as well as your OS you will be able to install your main applications and even a few games for some big speed boosts in you most used programs. All for an extra £15.

Sorry, my ignorance is showing. I was reffering to the generations, I guess what I should have asked is somthing closer to are the gen 3 SSD's much of an improvement over the gen 2/2E SSD's? I hope that question is closer to sensible. Though you seem to have answered it anyway. :)

Ah, ok. Well they are a good bit faster than the previous generation, this review compares one of the larger capacity agility 3 drives with a range of SSDs including the corsair F120 (which uses the same controller as the F40). The Agility 3 is certainly faster, but to me the real benefit is the extra capacity. The F40 (40GB) is £80 and the Agility 3 (60GB) is £95.
