I would like to do a final spec check just in case I have forgotten something or if there are any incompatibilities. Btw, I'm not ordering from OCUK just because I don't live in UK. I will Be using the computer mostly for gaming at 2560x1440 resolution, general stuff and little bit of video editing, but not enough to justify i7. I will be overclocking the CPU and GPUs to decent rates.
Parts that I allready have:
Samsung 830 256 GB SSD
Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB
Parts I'm going to buy:
Processor: Intel Core i5 3570K
CPU Cooler: EKL Alpenföhn Matterhorn rev. b
Mobo: Asus P8Z77-V Intel Z77
RAM: 2x 8GB Corsair Vengeance LP Black DDR3-1600 DIMM CL9 Dual Kit
Graphics card: 2x Gigabyte GTX 680 Windforce
Case: Lian Li PC-X500FX
Sound card: Asus Xonar DGX
Optical drive: LG Blu-ray Burner Black SATA RETAIL BH10LS
PSU: Super Flower Golden King Platinum 850W
OS: Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium OEM
Video cards are not reference design, but the case has very good airflow (3x140mm intake and 2x140mm exhaust) and there will be one slot space between the top and bottom card so I should have no problem with overheating.
Sound card should fit into the uppermost pci-e x1 slot without any problem.
CPU cooler is surprisingly powerful, looks good and also fits into the color theme of rest of the parts. Another option would be Black Megahalems with the same fan as Matterhorn. I havent fully decided yet.
CPU cooler extends little over the RAM slots, but I have chosen low profile RAM so it shouldn't be an issue. I'm just thinking if I should choose blue colored RAM instead as I'm not sure which one would look better.
Mobo has nice features and color theme, and I don't think it's missing anything significant that would justify getting more expensive board.
Case is ridicilouysly expensive, but I love the looks.
About the blu-ray burner I'm not completely sure, but it seems like a decent drive. Another option would be a bit cheaper BH10LS38, but it's bulk packed.
PSU should be powerful enough to handle everything.
Is there anything I have forgotten to take into account or any incompatibilities? Any opinions about the couple of questions (hidden inside the wall of text):
- RM color: Black or blue? (I agree it's a ridicilous question, but bear with me
)
- CPU cooler: Matterhorn or Megahalems Black?
- Blu-ray burner: BH10LS retail or BH10LS38 bulk?
