Spec check £900

Hey guys,

I have put together a spec for my friend, he has £900 for a gaming machine.

I said get the 4870 for now, see how he gets on with it, as it is so cheap atm. I said this as by the time he uses the card for a month or two, the prices for the 58xx series would have gone down and he could get on of them.

i hope i explained this well, im hungover to hell

I would just like a spec check, to make sure everything looks good.

Not sure about the ram but I'd probably try and reduce the processor. If it's for gaming alone and no processor intensive tasks then I'd go for an i5 and save some cash. Could chuck that into upgrading to a 5770 now rather than later and then if he wants another to crossfire it that'd give him more power and immediate access to DX11.

Why not get a 5770? Only a few £ more than the 4870 but will have all the extra features and dx11

then upgrade to a 5870 later if he wants.

Change the cpu for a amd955 and change the mobo to a ddr3 am3! Spend the saved money on a ati 5850 gpu!

Similar in terms of perfomance! Think the 5770 is slightly faster and obviously supports dx11.
