My friend has asked for some advice on a new machine for himself. It will be a gaming machine, predominantly used for playing FEAR at 1024x768 resolution. Budget is £500 if possibly but he said he can stretch up to £600 if necessary perhaps a little more. He needs PSU, Case, RAM, Motherboard, graphics card and processor, everything else he has already. He will be overclocking.

This is what i came up with, what do you all think?

Tagan TG330-U01 330W ATX Silent PSU £28.99
(£34.06) £28.99
(£34.06)
Intel Core 2 DUO E6300 "LGA775 Allendale" 1.86GHz (1066FSB) - OEM £94.99
(£111.61) £94.99
(£111.61)
Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £84.99
(£99.86) £84.99
(£99.86)
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC) £154.99
(£182.11) £154.99
(£182.11)
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket 775) £13.99
(£16.44) £13.99
(£16.44)
EVGA GeForce 7900 GS 256MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail £119.99
(£140.99) £119.99
(£140.99)
Sub Total : £497.94
Shipping cost assumes delivery to UK Mainland with:
City Link Parcel Next Day (Delivered Mon-Fri)
(This can be changed during checkout) Shipping : £8.95
Vat : £88.71
Total : £595.60

I didn't include a case, he said he can stretch a little more for a good one if necessary.

Since it is quite a tight budget I'd get the OcUK 7900gs instead of the EVGA (in fact I'd buy it anyway but the cost saving is a bonus) and get a higher powered PSU, certainly something that is 400w+. If he needs the case as well I'd suggest the Antec NSK6500 as it is a good solid case with a decent PSU included for £70. :)

Right i've changed it to that case and graphics card (thanks semi-pro waster) final price comes to 595 which is fine, just to double check this is all compatible and will overclock well before my mate orders.

Everything is compatible, the Antec case is currently out of stock so that may hold up the order but from the way the website looks they should be getting a new supply in at some point. :)

That PSU is great, but for an older spec PC (got one) :( Its ATX 1.3 meaning its 20-pin, needing a 24-pin adaptor, an extra expense!

Also only 18A on the single +12V Rail :( That GFX & or any future upgrades will require 26A or more (if split, i.e. +12V1, +12V2, etc combined value should be equal to or greater than) :)

Last but not least, 330Ws is very low for such a spec. 400Ws is the new minimum (along with other things like I've mentioned above)
