Right guys, ordering a new system tonight or tomorrow, late xmas pressie :):p I don't have a great lot to spend (poor student) so have decided to go the i5 route.

The PC will be used for a bit of everything. I don't game, and dont intend to in the future, but i wish to run two monitors.

This is what i've came up with so far:

What gfx card should i get? I don't game, but want two run two monitors(both dvi).

Thanks
Neil.

shhhhh! :( I had my sights set on an i5. :(

Photoshop, some very basic stuff in CS4 (mainly after-effects + director), VM's. I've also started a CS degree and i want this new rig to be able to handle anything that i may cover in the next 3 years.

I'll also be doing a lot of programming and web design/development on it (personal projects).

Im not to familliar with the software you are using. However i do know that the I5 is not the best choice for what you wish to do and that they would not be much of a difference ( performance wise ) between the i5 and lets say a q6600. Which is allmost 2 years older. My advice would be to spend a little more and go for an i7, much faster at what you want. Not to mention the socket is brand new, thus you wont have to upgrade the mobo over the next 3 years, only the CPU. Just a thought hopefully someone will post whose a little more savi in this area.
