A lot of this is from the spec me thread but I got a bit ahead of myself posting there as I've been delayed in buying it.

Will the GPU be enough for 1920x1080 resolutions? Was originally going for:
Hyundai Blue H H224W 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black £128.79
Would that be better for my system?

Also, how much would downgrading the PSU to something like the Corsair 550W affect things? I doubt I will ever go for Xfire but I will be attempting to overclock.
Which brings me to my last worry, will OEM Q6600 be ok for overclocking to something like 3GHz?

Thanks in advance :)

PS I'm stretching my budget quite a lot already so there's not an awful lot of room to spend more without downgrading something else. Uses will be gaming, work and movies.

could get a corsair 520 psu for cheaper, will be enough for your system since you not planning on xfire

I would avoid B grade mobo, since it will be missing quite a few things like cables, i/o plates etc...

OEM q6600 is same as retail version just doesn't come with cpu cooler, but you have selected one. could go for one the best coolers like Tuniq Tower 120-LFB CPU Cooler (Socket 478/754/939/940/AM2/LGA775) for only £2 more

4850 is ideal for 1680x1050, it will struggle on max settings at 1900 in some demanding games. would go for 4870 or gtx 260 for that res, even more but that is more expensive. otherwise get a 22" with smaller native res

Cheers, will go for the Asus P5Q Pro mobo in that case.

What do people reckon of the new Corsair VX 550W ATX PSU? Good brand=good PSU always? Also I know I won't be able to use all of the ram but I'll be fine running on XP until Windows 7 proper comes out right?

corsair are fine PSU, not familiar with that specific model, just check to see it has proper connectors for new gen gfx cards (pci-e 8 pin) otherwise you will need to use daisy chains of molex to adpat which works but nor great for cable management

if you are using 32 bit OS your comp will only recognize 3gb. not entirely sure how that works with 2x2gb

It will still only recognise 3.25GB (ish) regardless of the RAM setup. Apparently there is something in XP that now sees 4GB, but I'm not sure if it actually utilises it.

I would always go for an antec PSU, personal preference, reccomendations and reviews have all led me there and I've not been dissapointed yet.

£30 for a cooler may be workable on, I use a Arctic Pro 7 on my overclocked Q6600 and it runs it comfortably, it could run even more overclocked but the voltages...you get the idea.

Thanks for the help, much appreciated. Gonna stick with the 4850 card and 1680 resolution I think.

Just can't wait to buy it and build now :)
