Hi,
Going to do a fairly big upgrade this week, probably going to replace the core components of my current system (core2duo) with the following:
Product Name Qty Price Line Total
Intel Core i7-2600K 3.40GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - OEM Intel Core i7-2600K 3.40GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - OEM £239.99
(£199.99) £239.99
(£199.99)
Asus P8P67 PRO Intel P67 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard - (Sandybridge) ** B3 REVISION ** Asus P8P67 PRO Intel P67 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard - (Sandybridge) ** B3 REVISION ** £139.99
(£116.66) £139.99

Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMZ8GX3M2A1600C8) Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMZ8GX3M2A1600C8) £107.99
(£89.99) £107.99
(£89.99)
OCZ Vertex 2E 60GB 2.5" SATA-II Solid State Hard Drive (OCZSSD2-2VTXE60G) OCZ Vertex 2E 60GB 2.5" SATA-II Solid State Hard Drive (OCZSSD2-2VTXE60G) £93.59
(£77.99) £187.18
(£155.98)
My current case, psu, optical drives should be fine for the time being. Primary use of the machine is my home workstation for application & web development; vs2010, some photoshop work and occasional video encoding - hoping to see a really good boost in general performance especially from moving to raid 0 ssd's.
Ultimately i will be doing a bit of gaming too at 1900x1200 but i'm so busy with work at the moment im going to hold off updating the graphics card to resist temptation, i have an old x1900xtx which will do the job for the time being.
Onto the questions:
-any obvious issues/suggestions/things i have missed?
-Will the oem processor come with a heatsink fan, i can't remember if they have in the past? If it does i'll probably use this for the timebeing until i update the g-card. If not, will my old scythe ninja fit? or is it only the newer revision that'll fit?
Thanks in advance guys!
