Spec check before buying

Hi all,

Going to be doing my first water cooling rig and just wanted a check over of the parts I've listed before I press buy.
Want to make sure every thing is compatible and quality parts.
If improvements can be made for the same money please suggest away.
Don't need fans or coolant just yet.

No improvements for the same cash but if you could stretch the budget to go for the Supremacy, its definately worth it. For just £20 more you go from having an entry level block that fits only AMD sockets, to a high end block, with better mounting and compatibility for every socket, should you decide to upgrade. A shame because the Supreme use to come with the same mounting plate on the block but now it is built into the plexi.

The pump is good and often underrated in this forum. It is like when people ask about a PSU and the only thing you hear is Seasonic, here if you ask about pumps, you get D5 as 99% of replies. The D5 may be one of the best pumps available but the 4.0 has plenty of juice for most people and comes at half the price of a D5+block. At two thirds of the D5 flow rate and with a fifth more head pressure, my 4.0 has comfortably been in a loop with 3 blocks and two radiators.

Other than the mounting plates is there any other difference between the supreme and the supremacy blocks, is there a big performance difference?

Only reason I ask is I wont be upgrading this rig for a long time now.

Will I need any thing else for the GPU block, do I need a back plate or any thing else?

Lastly I like the chunky tubing look but is there any thing to watch out for when using it?
For a first time builder would it be better to use 11/16 tubing?
 
IIRC the supremacy has a higher flowrate so could affect temps marginally(positively).

1/2" tubing is fine just obviously you cant have as tight of bends as you could with the 11/16.

Backplate seems to be more for ascetics or heavy cards the ones that bend under their own weight. (I found no difference in temps installing a backplate on my 7970).

What fans are you using?

Not 100% on fans yet, maybe some sp120's or BitFenix Spectre. will have to see what the budget allows when i come to get them.
 
Plan the radiator around the fans or vice versa. High fpi rads will need high static pressure fans. I'd say either noctuna (if you can live with the color scheme) or scythe gentle typhoons (my personal favorite).
