Spec Check - Budget General usage pc (~£300)

Hey all,

I've been helping a mate out by steering them clear of a poor pre-built system and have tried to help them out by coming up with a cheap (around £300) base unit that is also fairly powerful for the price. Here’s what I came up with:

Asus A8N-VM CSM Micro ATX (Socket 939) PCI Express Motherboard (MB-119-AS) £49.95
Philips SPD2400BM 16x16 DVD±RW Dual Layer ReWriter (Black) - OEM (CD-006-PH) £21.95
Hitachi Deskstar T7K250 NCQ 160GB SATA-II 8MB Cache - OEM (0A31637) (HD-001-HI) £44.95
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Venice 90nm (Socket 939) - Retail (ADA3000BPBOX) (CP-117-AM) £84.95
OcUK Value 1GB (2x512MB) PC3200 184pin DDR Memory Dual Channel Kit (MY-004-OK) £42.50
Asus TA-210 Series Midi Tower (Black) - 360W PSU (CA-004-AS) £34.95
Subtotal £279.25
VAT £48.87
Total £328.12

My main concern is the psu that comes with the case. Will the 360w psu be compatible with the system with it not being ATX 2.0? Also will it be a good enough quality psu to power the system without any problems? I would say just get a decent quality psu but the budget doesn’t really allow for it.

All help is much appreciated! Thanks.

I'd imagine it would be undemanding things like office, internet, listening to music, may be the odd 2d game, but who really knows what else they could use it for in the future :p
