So I've finally amassed the money to go and get my rig sorted out. I'm thinking along the lines of an E6300 with the Tuniq Tower cooler, the DS3 on TWO, and 2GB of RAM.

Now I have a couple of questions.
Firstly, what RAM do you advise? I'm looking for a mild overclock, nothing too fancy, but enough to get a nice boost.
Secondly, will the DS3 be suitable for the OCing?
Thirdly, I've currently got a 7900GT gfx card. Now I think it's playing up on me, as occasionally my screens flashing, and coming back with distorted graphics (maybe once or twice a week). If I can get the money together, would it be worth my while going 8800, or would I need a better mobo? Or, am I better living with the 7900 for now, and waiting for the next wave of DX10 cards?

I've got an Antec P180 case, with a Tagan 530W PSU.

Now I've got around £500 to spend on CPU+RAM+Mobo atm, and come pay day in 2 weeks, I could stretch to something more like £800-900 for the upgrade.

Thoughts/opinions?

£900 can get you a nice E6600 + Tuniq Tower + P5W DH + 2Gb PC6400 kit + 8800GTX.

However if you want to save a bit of cash then swap for a DS3 and E6300 / E4300 combo. DS3 has got to be the most ocable mobo under £100. Since you are not aiming for fancy ocs so you don't need fancy RAM too, just ordinary PC6400 will do quite well, it is just a matter of choice from Corsair, Geil, Crucial, OCZ.

And yes you will notice huge performance leap going from 7900GT to 8800GTX.
