Hi,
Have been planning on an upgrade for some time, and finally will be able to make it happen! I can only describe my build as general purpose, since i use my current pc for pretty much everything - some gaming, lots of music, some encoding, some folding plus the usual web browsing and occasionally work (!).
I am limited fairly strictly to an £800 budget, and a having checked the shop and forums regularly, i have come up with this:
(sorry no pics - will get round to getting image hosting account soon)
Should come to around £800. I already have an 8800gt that is adequate, but will upgrade later on if i find it no longer cuts it. Should note that i am not too interested in multi GPU, hence p45 mobo.
Thanks very much for looking - if anyone has any comments, please post them. Plan on ordering either tonight or tomorrow.
Cheers

- CPU: Q6600 - seems to be best bang for buck + will OC well - may change to penryn quad to save power when the prices fall
- Cooling: TRUE + noctua fan
- Motherboard: ASUS p5q-deluxe
- Memory: Corsair Dominator 2x2gb PC-8500 kit - good price + may be useful for further upgrades
- HDD: Samsung F1 750 gb + existing Hitachi 80gb
- PSU: Corsair HX 620
- Sound: ASUS Xonar DX
- Optical: Sony DVD + existing Samsung DVD
- Case: Open to suggestions - currently thinking Lian-Li A17, A10/A70 or antec p182, but not 100% convinced - anyone have suggestions? Budget for case is around £100, but could go a little over.
- Vista 64 home premium
