Going to start ordering parts tonight for a quick pc upgrade.

I've noticed on the gigabyte site it says for ram voltage - 4 x 1.8V and i've selected the OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 PC2-8500 Gold from the OcUK site which says they are 2.1 Volts.

Will the RAM work at stock settings without messing and oc'ing the motherboard?

secondly (im new to this can you tell :p) would a Be Quiet! Dark Power Pro 550W ATX2.2 Modular SLi Compliant Power Supply cope with this lot ?.

only having 3 hdds, no floppy disk also the graphics are 1gb worth of Sapphire HD 4850 goodness.

1. 1 x 24-pin ATX main power connector
2. 1 x 4-pin ATX 12V power connector
3. 1 x floppy disk drive connector
4. 1 x IDE connector
5. 6 x SATA 3Gb/s connectors
6. 1 x CPU fan header
7. 2 x system fan headers
8. 1 x power fan header
9. 1 x front panel header
10. 1 x front panel audio header
11. 1 x CD In connector
12. 1 x S/PDIF In header
13. 1 x S/PDIF Out header
14. 2 x USB 2.0/1.1 headers
15. 1 x IEEE 1394a header
16. 1 x parallel port header
17. 1 x serial port header
18. 1 x power LED header
19. 1 x chassis intrusion header

memory wise it depends, the 2 gigabyte mobos i've had have been fine with memory needing a higher voltage, if u're unlucky you might have problems.

psu wise 550w will be more than enough.

ah right, im not sure if i should risk it. Did they auto adjust the voltage or did you have to go into the BIOS cuz I dont fancy messing with it. Would it just be safer going with the Asus P5Q Pro Intel P45? Ive just checked their site and it shows they can take reaper ram which is 2.1 too.

the gigabyte can take the ram, just a case of adjusting the bios to the required voltage needed.

not sure on the Asus P5Q Pro Intel P45, would think it supplies 1.8v to the memory as default same as the gigabyte, hopefully someone can clarify for you.

is that as easy as it sounds ? :p

if its just going straight to the voltage option and whacking it straight to 2.1 im all for it :D

AI Tweaker in the Asus BIOS is very easy, just a case of scrolling down, setting RAM timings to Manual and changing RAM voltage. Should detect it automatically I presume...can't remember as I do everything manually now. My RAM running at 2.1v 5-5-5-15. Set it manually that way in AI Tweaker.

ah :/ does the gig have anything like that? if not, does anyone have a link on how to do it without AI, like a tutorial or fancy writing about it.

Im more drawn to the gig because of the price.
