I’m looking at updating my current pc which is a P4 Prescott to something a bit more up-to-date, efficient and quieter.

My main uses for the PC will be: watching DVD’s, watching TV, listening to music, surfing, downloading and general office type tasks.

Main priority is for it to be as quiet as possible which would mean passive or energy efficient hardware which does not chuck out masses of heat.

I will be reusing the following hardware from my current rig:

HDD’s, M-Audio Soundcard, Akasa Eclipse 64 Case and DVDRW/CDRW.

So, to upgrade my current setup to something a little better and up-to-date I will need the following hardware:

CPU (I prefer Intel route)
GPU (passively cooled)
MOBO (passively cooled with at least 1x ATA)
CPU COOLER (Needs to be very quiet)
TV CARD + Remote
PSU (needs to be very quiet)
MEMORY

So far i have spec'ed up the following:

  • Intel Core 2 Duo E2180 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.00GHz (800FSB) PowerColor ATI Radeon HD 2400 PRO SCS3 SILENT 256MB DDR2 HDTV/DVI (PCI-Express)
  • GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC)
  • Scythe Ninja-CU Full Copper CPU Cooler (Socket 478/754/939/940/AM2/LGA775)
£163.00 Incl VAT

So that leaves PSU, TV Card + Remote, and Mobo. Can someone recommend any?

Also, is what hardware i have listed above ok for my needs?

Thanks

PS. Ordered 24" OCuk TFT which will arrive today.
