Hi peeps,

Do you think the below spec for £400 is good?

Is the processor decent?

I know the gfx card is crap but hey you cant get it all, whats the chance of upgrading it?

Its for general use i.e. surfing mainly, do you think you could photoshop on here and use programs like macromedia flash etc?

Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 Processor 1.68GHz

667MHz

2MB Cache

1GB RAM

80GB Hard Drive

DVD Super Multi Dual Layer Drive

15.4" TFT Widescreen

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium

224MB Intel 950 GMA Graphics

1 year FREE warranty

please let me know your thoughts...

cheers

'Free warranty' is a bit of a misnomer, a 1 year warranty is usually required by law.

Looks like a decent spec for the money, although 1GB of RAM might slow things down a little bit with Vista Home Premium being there. If you want to use Photoshop and Flash etc, 2GB would be good.

thanks guys...

i wonder if it can be upgraded to 2gb??? how would i find out

please help, if its good i will order it now

thanks

ACER AS5633 LAPTOP - ACER AS5633 INTEL CORE 2 DUO T5500 PROCESSOR 1.68GHz

woops sorry about that...

so do u think I can upgrade the RAM?

If yes, how much will it cost??

Yes, you very definitely can upgrade the RAM as I've done it on my 5633. You need to replace the 2 x 512MB SODIMMS with 2 x 1GB such as this.

That's an excellent price for that spec of 5633 - I paid quite a bit more. The graphics are suitable for just about anything but gaming. Note that the HDD is really 120GB although even the sticker on the machine says 80GB but 40GB is taken up with Acer recovery utilities and similar dross. I pulled the original HDD without ever booting from it so I could use a 160GB HDD and XP Pro. Next step will be a 7200rpm drive when OcUK get some 16)GB or larger in stock.
