Hi everyone, building a new gaming PC for myself, would like your guys input.
Few questions/points:
- would like to OC the CPU to 4.3-4.5 stable, would this be achievable with current spec, and easy to do?
- please feel free to change the components to cheaper alternatives, i want to spend as little as possible.
- Im not a SLI/Crossfire guy, i like to keep it simple with having just one powerful card, is the PSU iv chosen overkill?
- I want this GPU.
- I have no idea if the case iv chosen will be adequate (size/airflow)
- total my build comes to: £967.84 with shipping

thanks.

is the gtx670 a better card?

is there anyway i can get this build down to £800 mark keeping the HD 7950?

btw, how do u add the basket thing, saving me having to copy/paste everything?

I got the wrong cpu selected, fixed it now:)

The GTX670 reviews are out now, much better than a 7850:)

Getting a 670 for that price is amazing. By looking at them benchmarks posted by Idleman they really perform against the competition. Good build recommended by stulid too as usual :D

Am I missing much by going for the msi mobo compared to the gigabyte one?

The Gigabyte board you selected (and I have in the first option) is ready for SLi/Crossfire, has more SATAIII ports, general better quality components and build quality.

That MSI, and this Gigabyte board - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-391-GI&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=2261

Dont do SLI and only support Crossfire at a worse 16X/4X making them better suited for single card setups.

£150 : Sapphire HD 6950

Above :

7850 2GB.

560ti 448 FTW.

the 560ti requires more juice, but a good 550W / 600W 'Bronze' PSU will do easily.

I would go with the Sapphire 7850 personally (I prefer more efficient, cooler, quieter cards).

Depends also if you prefer NVidia or AMD, EVGA, Gigabyte, Sapphire, MSI (Twin Frozr 3).

EDIT : In fact, there is quite a lot of choices. 6970 Lightning for £200?... 570? Also depends how big your case is, some of these cards are massive. I like AMD's for their VRAM as well.

Hi again, on further reading iv decided to save a lot of money and go for this:

- from what iv read, I can overclock the 6950 using trixx to gain a decent boost, with that said, is it worth the extra £35 to get the sapphire HD 7850 for £185 instead?
- dont need the SSD yet, can get later
- iv decided for this mobo so if i need to i can go crossfire/sli route
- want this case, got great reviews, love the aesthetics, the cable management and cooling/airflow
