Hi guys.

Currently going through the process of selling my current computer parts to my friend at a very good price.

This has given me a nudge to buy a few new bits and bobs as i now have the cash available. Didn't really needs an upgrade but im helping a friend out who wants a gaming rig and it never hurts to get with newer tech.

I'm looking to buy a new Motherboard, cpu and ram. I have honestly got my heart set on the Saber tooth board Z77 board. I've had my eye on it for a long time, i don't know if its purely for cosmetic reasons but i love the look of it. I've read some nice reviews too. I also notice the pci-e lanes are quite wide apart, this will be better as i have sli and there currently sandwiched in my current build.

The only problem i have is im confused with all the current chips that are for sale. The last i remember was the Ivy Bridge. But now i see 2011 socket for sandy bridge-e? Would i making a backward step and a wrong decision to go for ivy bridge? I also want my chip to run cool so who does the Ivy run against the 2011 Sandy Bridge-e in Temperatures?

Also im not too familiar with ram these days. I've had my eyes on Corsair Vengeance blue ram as im trying to get a blue theme going on within my case. I also dot know if its best to go for faster ram as i will be looking to overclock to around 4.6ghz if it permits.

My main reasons for this build is to hardcore game. I play all types of games. I also watch blu rays.

Here is what i have in my basket, can anyway make it better for performance or just all round better?:

Ram: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-300-CS&tool=3

Here's what i have:

Evga 680 SLI
Ocz 1250 Psu
Corsair h100
Nzxt Phantom
Crucial M4 128gb

Sorry for the long writing but want to get this right. Looking to place the order tomorrow more so any advice or tips would be awesome and welcomes! Kind regards.

I'm also looking to overclcok, am i going to run into heat troubles quite quickly with ivy bridge?

I have got rid of my i7 950 which was ridiculously hot, i don't really want to move onto another toaster.
