Hey guys, i previously posted asking for some help with speccing and i appreciate all your answers a lot. However i teamed up with a guy who knows a lot computers, some pc builder or something or other, and we came up with this:

can u recommend me a brand/type. e,g G.Skill or something Oh and i will be overclocking, but by how much is yet to be decided :P:P

if i was going to change it to say a Q9450 with a p35 MB, would a Asus P5K Premium do the job? Bit to much money though i think

Agree with that, I did same mistake :(

Also 780 is not worth it unless you plan a 3way Sli, if you want nforce go with 680. I have Evga 680 with latest P32 Bios and no complaints

I would check forums for issues with 9800X2 drivers, I know when I got 8800GTX Nvidia took a quite while to get them running properly. Hard for first few months but now I am a happy bunny.

Ok sounds like i should change my motherboard :) I have heard about driver issues, but nVidia are working on it and heck, i can wait :P Oh and i will probably also be changing my Ram. Unless i change to a Q9450 then maybe not

Go with X38 mobo, Gigabyte has some great models...

Q9450 for the CPU

2x2GB RAM

And wait for the new nvidia cards before buying a high end graphics card. 9800GX2 is really not that good

i have just been talking to my friend pauliee as well on the gfx issue, and maybe u r all right, but how long is it gunna be?

The guy said he wants his pc to last him a while...

If he can afford 45nm then there is no reason not go for that, they are faster clock for clock and can be overclocked as well!

This is no Quad vs Dual, if you want a pc that is going to be around for 3 years or more then you will use a Quad and possibly overclock it. I am not downplayin the Q6600, i love that chip, but if I was buying NOW, i would go for 45nm.

The new cards should arrive in June, you should probably pre order one as as per usual supply will be limited in the launch period.

What I'm going to do, is get a higher specced 45NM CPU and get the EVGA 8800GT which is a good card on its own, but more importantly it has a 90 day thing that allows me to had back my card to EVGA and then pay the difference between the old card and the new higher specced card and they will send me the new card. And the new cards will be out by then...

Oh and whats the difference between this RAM http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-022-GS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=817

and this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-023-GS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=817

how does that look?

I have just ordered my pc, will post piccies during build on saturday, i am basically doing the above spec *points up screen* but i have changed the case to a antec 900 (cheaper) that saved money i have spent on upgrading to a Q9450, i have also changed to G.Skill Ram, just wanted to thank all of you for your fantastic and incredibly useful advice. I will be recommending the OCuk forums to all my friends :P

ah goose! a man from guildford, i go to school there, what school you go to (you said you were 15 somewhere?)

Soz for offtopic, sexeh PC you got there, my dad wouldnt fork out more that 550 quid with screen and all for my build.

YH well i think my dad got so annoyed at me screaming at my pc "What the %£"£ you laggy piece of "$£%^ so i think he did it out of want of peace and quiet. And i go to George Abbot secondary school, you know it?

Yeah, of course, I go to the RGS, I went to Lanesborough before that :D

Awesome, you don't play tennis by any chance? Oh, and i was going to go to the RGS :) Oh and someone who spends that amount of money on their education can't be bothered to fok out some cash on something useful and decent like a pc (Shameful)

There's a slight difference between spending money to avoid the horrors of state education, and spending money on buying a shiny metal box :p

Hey, I take offence to that, I choose a state school over a private school because the state school is actually better. GOH honestly
