I only really play games so dont fancy spending a ton on an i7, but i do want to play games in high detail. I plan to get an am3 setup and buy another graphics card in the future. How does this setup look? Is the motherboard ok for crossfire?

Very good. I have the 965 with the same G-Skills and motherboard and it takes on everything with ease. Good gaming setup to be honest. I currently have an Asus 5770 to get me by for now and it all works tremendously. Mobo has plenty of options and when installing the ram it auto detects at 1333 but go into the bios and there's an option to select 1600mhz (you don't have to fiddle with timings for this unless you're overclocking beyond 1600).
Although performance for games will depend on what gfx card you use/plan to buy?

sounds good mate, whole setup with a 5850, can't fault it really. Mobo also has good OC profiles built in the latest bios revision! Though should munch through anything at stock!
