Spec check please. i know another one!

Just need some reasurance before i order my new rig.

my current spec is

Athlon 3000xp
2*1gb ddr400 ram
Ati 800xt gpu
1*80GB hd
1*160Gb hd
all running on a reserator.

My budget is under £800.

i play games mainly.

im looking at th 6600 conreo,
ds3 OR ds4 mobo
ati 1900xt gpu
2 gig or ddr2 ram
sata hd.

What i really need help with are what make of ram and help with the instalation regarding the hd. Does the ds3/4 have ata support so i can reuse my old hd's? if i install windows onto the sata connection (new drive), can i then just plug in one of my other ones and it will b up and running? or do i need to formatt it (so i need to back it all up!!!).

the upgrade will make it a huge difference over what i have, but am i being greedy just because i have the money, would an amd upgrade b better?

any help would b great.

I might suggest something like this because I think the 6600 and above CPUs work a bit better with the 975 chipset. There will be at least one IDE port on the motherboard but if you have more devices I'd consider getting an add-in IDE controller card. Finally if you can afford a bit extra I might consider going for the 512mb version of the X1900XT but unless you are playing at resolutions of 1600x1200 or above then you probably don't need to worry too much.
