I started this in another thread where I asked for thoughts on a rig that will be purely used for gaming & maybe light photoshop work(but this isn't likely at least in the short/medium term). Ideally I'd like to be using this rig for a good few years, my current rig is 7 years old with an i7 860, which I put some more RAM & a 970 in a 18 months ago.

It was suggested that I get a better Mobo & would 2400Mhz memory would be better, fair enough so I've updated the spec to the below.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £2,016.35
(includes shipping: £0.00)

But I've been pondering a X99 system as well, what is everyone's opinion on a 5820 vs a 6700k with the following?

Thanks.

The i7 6700K is faster out of the box for gaming, but the extra cpu cores on the i7 5820K might be more useful for DX12 games.

You can get the EVGA G2 for an extra £10 and double your warranty to 10 years. Not a huge issue as the XFX XTR is still a good power supply. If you plan on keeping the setup for more than 5 years then maybe go with the G2.

I think EVGA are fine with you removing the cooler on the gpu. Not sure on other brands. Maybe check with ocuk before you order.

I thought the XFX were re-branded Super Flower PSU's & a bit better than the EVGA ones?

Turns out the evolv isn't a good case for water cooling so I've gone with a corsair air 540.
