spec check please

Hi

Can you lot check the below is ok and will fit together ok please? It's a spec for a friend for basic machine as cheap as pos without resorting to a sempron. No screen, keyboard, software, cd/dvd etc needed. It's not a gaming machine so doesn't need to be too high spec.

Aside from the DDR2 as mentioned you might also find that Maxtors reputation has taken a bit of a battering recently, I've got 3 of their drives and they are fine but you might like to consider Samsung as their 80gb is only a little bit more but should also be quieter.

You could go for Socket 939 to save a bit of cash possibly but it means very limited upgrade options.

Yeah i have a 250gb sata2 16mb cache maxtor hdd - it likes to stop spinning now and then

Thats not what he asked, we all have our favorite and own experience. I'd proberly suggest against it to, but thats not what was asked.

Personally i'm all WD hdd's..... but thats for another topic or question.

New attempt to squeeze more value from the cash. I know it's 939 but the guy's not going to upgrade so it's not really an issue. Can get the below for £228 delivered. Swapped the Maxtor for the Seagate as you suggested and the Athlon for an Opteron. Also found some good reviews for this mobo so went for it over the asrock..
