Does anyone see any problems or improvements on this spec keeping to around the same budget? Not sure about the case and would it be better to go with the a DFI Lanparty UT mobo for the R600 when it is released or perhaps any other mobo for that matter?

Any input would be greatly appreciated as i'm new to oc!

Not sure about the M/B but you save a shed load of cash by going for something with a 965 chipset as I don't think you will be going SLI will you?

Looks good part from get the OEM 64-Bit Vista more worthwhile in the long run.

Strange choice of DVD Burner, would choose something from Samsung, Pioneer or Liteon

Two cases eh? groovy, dump the 900 seems to be a bit of dust magnet, something from Lian Li or Antec is more then fine...

As Will_3rd says a 965P based motherboards such as the Gigabyte DS3P is more than fine and costs less, it will work fine with the R600.

The Ram is very expensive so I'd expect you to be overclocking but you don't appear to have an aftermarket cooler, do you already have something in mind?

Quad-core isn't really necessary at the moment since very little utilises it properly.

I might also suggest getting two separate hard drives, just so you don't put all your eggs in one basket so to speak. :)

Thanks for the feedback. I have the quad core for work purposes rather than gaming. As for the aftermarket cooler - what would you suggest?

Aftermarket coolers among the best are:

Noctua, Tuniq Tower, Scythe Ninja or the Freezer 7 Pro (although this one is slightly more of a budget cooler than the rest :))

That's the pick of the bunch to be honest and the first two are probably you're best bet

id suggest the tuniq tower

also if youve got loadsa money (and youre obviously not short ;) ) id get the EVGA nForce 680 , and the EVGA GeForce 8800 GTX KO just my personal preference

also im using a NEC AD7170S Serial ATA dvdrw and its a great bit of kit using sata instead of those nasty ide cables :D

stinka

edit i wouldnt reccomend the antec 900 as cable management is a bit of a mare but its a lot of case for the money. id sugest a Lian Li PC-A16B, i know its like £100 more but its damn sexy and well vented like the 900
