Hi all, I've ripped the forums to shreds and taken what I believe to be the best from all worlds. I need a new PC now, (writing this from work) and I don't see that cost efficiently it's worth me waiting another month to be sure of the new cards, and that's a long time without a PC! So, based on what I've read, my new PC is primarily for gaming, Photoshop, video editing and the mass storage that comes with the above. The Q6600 v's E8400 debate seems unanswerable so I've chosen the best of both worlds, and the 8800GTS seems a very very capable card.
The only things I still can't decipher are: PSU for the 8800 and is 1TB better than getting 2x500GB HD? Besides which I've mainly ripped Greebo's rig (being the best form of flattery?) as he has once of the best scores for cost on the leader board! and no doubt I'll be back for more help and advice on clocking it?!

I can take the DVD drives from my dead PC, and I'll be using Vista 64bit.

Any comments or tweaks or should I be good to go!?

Thanks

(PS, decided against the mATX build)

have a look at the corsair 520w psu.

new gfx cards are due out fairly soon so if you can i'd hold off and see what comes through if you can.

ok, thanks I'll look at that.

I can't find any helpful talk in the HD forum regarding the benefis of 1TB over 2x500GB?

Apart from that I presume everything else is OK? Subject to graphics cards changing, I may just stick my x1950pro in there and wait for the debate to start on the new cards.

I dont think there is a lot of difference if you were to go with 2X500GB HDD or 1TB HDD. The spinpoint F1 comes in both 16mb and 32mb cache with the 500gb having 16 and 1TB having 32 so either way the only difference between both options will be made up by having 2 of them. Also, partitioning would be much easier and useful with one HDD but it depends how much you would want to have. Unless you just wanted one solid drive.

Im getting a new pc but ive opted for the 750gb spinpoint F1, as its a great price and still have the 32mb cache.
