That's all going in a Lian Li PC7 (with 120mm fans front and back) with an X-FI Xtreme Music sound card (I already have these).

I don't plan to overclock immediately, but I'm thinking with this build I might do at some point (I had temperature problems with my last build which I couldn't fix so I didn’t bother then). It will be mostly used for gaming and the Internet.

The motherboard I'm not sure with. I see there are different versions of it and I don't plan to go SLI so I'm guessing the standard model would be best for me? Not unless there is a better suggestion for a motherboard?

The processor was down to either that or the Q6600. But from the research I have done it seems the E8500 would be best for me.

I chose that RAM because I had cheap GeIL RAM in my last PC which was fine so I was going to go for the same again.

Well for the graphics card it was either that or the 4870, but I don't mind paying the extra and I had a Nvida card in my last build and there is one in my current laptop so I'm used to the drivers and stuff. If one particular card had a quieter stock cooler that may have been the clincher, but my research seems to suggest they are all quite loud.

That HDD because I had the same make in my last build (albeit a smaller one though) and they still seem popular. It's my understanding that the one I chose has higher density platters or something which means it’s faster?

I chose that CPU cooler because I had the AMD equivalent in my last build and it still seems to be popular. I might also take this rig to LANs at some point so I don't want anything too big.

The monitor, well from my reading on these forums it seems the best of the 24" bunch. There doesn't seem to be a definitive one to have, but from what I know it is the best for gaming that is available.

The keyboard, well erm, is cheap and has quite a few positive reviews so gets the thumbs up from me!

I already have a decent mouse and a set of speakers which I'll live with for now.

Already having done this once before I have a better idea of what I want, but I've been out of touch with the computer market for ages. I've been doing research on off for a week or so, but I'm not 100% sure on everything. So that's where everyone here comes in! Any useful advice or suggestions would be most appreciated! :)

Looks perfect, assuming the PSU can take the strain. That would be my only concern on an otherwise extremely well thought through and damn fine spec :)

It's good to hear someone else thinks it’s ok!

Hmm it doesn't appear to be on OcUK and I'd rather stick with them as I'm ordering the rest of my bits from them.

Just something that I just found out and thought I'd mention before I go to bed.

I've just found that thread and it seems the Freezer 7 Pro and the P5Q Deluxe don't seem to get on very well. But the stuff around the CPU socket on the regular P5Q looks different. So does anyone know any problems with fitting a Freezer 7 Pro to a regular P5Q?

Also while I'm on the subject of the motherboard, after looking at the pictures of the motherboards in the P5Q range, it seems that the connectors for various different things aren't in the same place between each model. Is there any issue of cables having to be stretched across the case to plug stuff in on the regular P5Q? I only ask because cable management was a nightmare on my old PC so I want to make it as easy as possible on this PC!

I just built a rig including the P5Q and the only thing I didn't like about it was that the floppy connection was on the otherside of the board. Other than that though, the board is small and very good.

P5Q seems to have a much less restrictive copper heatsink arrangement, you should be fine tbh. I fit a AC Freezer 7 Pro to an Asus P5K and it was fine.

I just rang OcUK up and spoke to someone about whether the cooler would fit to the motherboard fine to make sure and the guy I was speaking to quickly and confidently just said "Yes". Couldn't have hoped for a better answer really! lol

I will hopefully make the order before the end of today. The only thing that is out of stock at the moment is the keyboard, but I'm told it will most likely be back in stock tomorrow.

I'll leave it for a few hours though in case anyone else has anything to say before I make the order. :)
