Hi Guys,

Building a new computer for my dad and was just seeing if you could have a quick run over it for me.

He uses it for just general everyday use but he does want to play a few games when he gets a bit of spare time, at the moment we are going to leave out the graphics card and upgrade at a later time.

Trying to keep it around £180 so feel free to switch it about if you think it's needed. Bits and bobs that arn't listed means we already have them in his old build.

Cheers

I wont be ocing but I thought the ram was pretty cheap anyway, as far as the processor goes, what is the one I picked out like?

I just put together a build using a E5200, P35, 320GB Spinpoint, 2x1GB DDR800, optical and it came to £220.
Which is out of your range. But what I would say about you're system is that you have only selected 1GB of memory. Do you not want to get 2GB and getting DDR1066 isn't going to keep the cost down.

What I definately would change would be the processor - Black just allows you overclock better (unlocked multiplier), which you aren't planning on doing so it's a waste. Get Athlon 64 X2 5200 instead. It saves you £6.

I have put it down as 2 sticks of RAM mate, check the quantity tab :)

Although I've said "I wont be overclocking it" the chances are I'll get bored and have a play, the same thing happened to this rig, I swore I wouldnt overclock and boom boredom strikes and the OCing begins.

For the extra £6 I think it's worth getting a chip that's "Slightly" easier to OC, not sure how much easier it is but I guess I'll find out.

Cheers for the reply and any more that follow ;)

7750+ Black edition is a very nice chip for overclocking on a budget, got my one going at 3.2Ghz with the stock cooler and it only goes up to 49 degrees at 100% load!

Also, as its basically just a phenom with some cores disabled it has L3 cache and is based on 65nm tech (the 5200 has no L3 cache and is 95nm I think)

Definately worth the £6
