Hi All,

I've decided on an i5 build, and would appreciate any comments or thoughts on the selection below. I already have gfx, psu, sound, etc.

System is mainly for gaming. I might go crossfire at some point.

In particular, the choice of RAM is a bit of a 'finger in the air' job. I chose it because it's cheap, has a couple of good reviews and no heat sinks (I'm concerned about clearance with the Noctua).

I'm looking to try to clock up to 4Ghz...should I be okay with this lot?

Intel Core i5 750 2.66Ghz (Lynnfield) (Socket LGA1156) - OEM £135.99
Asus P7P55D Pro Intel P55 (Socket 1156) DDR3 Motherboard £132.97
Geil Ultra Series 4GB (2x2GB) PC3-17000 2133MHz Dual Channel Kit (GU34GB2133C9DC) - OEM £84.99
Noctua NH-U12P SE2 Dual Fan Quiet CPU Cooler (LGA1366/LGA1156/LGA775/AM2/AM2+/AM3) £58.98
Silverstone RV02 Raven 2 Case - Black (No PSU) £119.99

Thanks for any comments.

ah ye sorry, the notcua compared to the mega is only +1/2 degrees hotter. go for it

I'm close...just a little unsure about the case now. I read somewhere that in the RV02 you cannot remove the HD cage with the motherboard installed.

Other possibility is the CM HAF932. A little more research is in order, I think.

I am sure you can remove the hdds as in the pics it looks like the hdd mounts are removable trays. The haf 932 is a very good case and me personally i would go HAF as it is massive and very good cooling

I dont have one mate, But i have friends who have them and theres are watercooled :/ however the fans are very big but low rpms so if your just using air cooling i would imagine it would be nice and quiet, In your case your using the Noctua which is near silent so you will hear it a little bit. But not excessive. I think 3dGameMan and Com.Putertv did a review and tested the fans so if you head to youtube and look at a few reviews one or more would have showed you or/and told you what the noise is like i would imagine.
Hope that helps

Well, I ordered the guts but I'll hold off on the case for now and see what shakes loose in the coming months.

I went for the H50 cooler instead of Noctua in the end, as I was worried about RAM clearance and also the wife thought it looked tidier!

I got a couple of apaches and will probably replace the rest of the fans in my case with quieter ones, so at least I'll cut out some of the noise for now.

Thanks for all the help, gang.
