hey guys ive got £1200 to spend on a new build and this is gonna be my first time building. someone specced this for me about 2-3 weeks ago and it came to 1170 with a i7 930 but ive noticed the 950's have came down in price so i have picked one of them instead, I wont be ordering until i get the money on friday and I just wanted to make sure everything was compatible with eachother and if there was anything else anyone would change to make it cheaper so I can buy a new mouse and keyboard, I could always buy these at a later time tho as ive already got these. I have also changed the case from a Coolermaster CM-690 II Lite Dominator Case - Black £62.99 to antec 902 as it has got a window and has good reveiws for cooling etc but im open to any suggestions on the case. finally Im really tempted to remove the SSD and get a gtx 480 instead of the 470, what would you guys recommend? also heard the OCZ memory is a bit naff any recommends on memory? thanks all. forgot to mention its gonna be used mainly for gaming but i will also be using it as a DAW (digital audio workstation) Ive already looked into getting an I5 system but I have set my heart on a i7 950 now because of the triple memory etc for recording.

any more suggestions for around the same price?

also would you recommend a 470 with a ssd drive or no ssd drive and a 480?

Hey there JonKJL the spec im about to order is pretty much the exact same as yours, im getting the Geil Black Dragon Ram as suggested by the guys on here, the case and PSU im getting is a bundle offer from a different supplier its £129.25 and its for the CM Storm Scout case + Coolermaster Silent Pro 700w Modular PSU you should be able to google it. Hope this helps - Adam

hi mate, i do like the look of the cm storm case, does it have sufficient cooling and does everything fit in it? probably a stupid question like but i gotta ask. would you be able to give me a heads up on your build if you came across any problems while building that i might come across myself, this is gonna be my first ever build and im a bit nervous about screwing it up haha

a GTX470 isn't that big, so will fit in. all the cases mentioned, keep the SSD and that card.

could always go sli later, but would need a 750w psu for this.

Its a great case and as far as i know it will all fit in good, my mate who lives 2 doors away got one last week, although hes running the AMD 1055t and the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2 CPU Cooler. He had no problems putting his first build together its a lot easier than it seems, you just need to take your time with it and not rush - Adam

hi again mate, was just looking at the Cooler Master Silent Pro Modular 700W Power Supply and it says it can run sli or crossfire, is that on a barebones system with no ssd or anything? how do you work out what wattage u need for your rig?

cheers adam will take my time, please keep me posted on any problams u come across tho haha.

I suppose the other alternative would be to just buy a single card when upgrade time comes around, as there will probably be better graphics cards out by then anyway, in fact it would probably be cheaper than buying another 470 and a new psu to support it.

I also wanted to sli in the future but now ive got the same dilemma haha, i think im going to go with the 700watt psu and single gfx card for now as im sure that will be more than sufficient for our needs, When are you planning on ordering JonKJL? im also just going to get a cheapo £20 mouse/keyboard combo, which one im not sure - Adam

i will be ordering mine next weekend, so you should have yours up and running buy then correct? I cant wait, been racking my brains for about a month deciding what parts to get and how much to spend, it started off as £800 max but ive been talked into spending the extra £400 from other users haha the basteeerrrrds, bit of a case of GAS too ( gear acquisition syndrome), not too fussed as long as its gonna last me a while and play all the games on max settings. I have already got a old optical mouse and a old keyboard at the moment but wanna upgrade them when i get some more dollar, Ive also got a logitech G25 steering wheel what i use on the ps3 so hopefully ill have my new rig up and running just in time for the new F1 2010 game at the end of sept. what decent mouse and keyboards have u seen mate? im gonna go with the 700w psu and cm scout case too, cheers for the heads up on that mate. just bought mine.

Yeah mine should be up and running by then ill let you know as soon as. Im just as bad i was supposed to be doing this last november but i backed out last minute haha, ive just started a thread to find out what the best mouse/keyboard i can get will be, ive had a look but i have no idea. Id like to spend more on them but ill go on forever and ever gradually spending more and more, my budget also started at £800 max ha. No worries about the heads up mate glad it helped, well my bank cards on my desk staring me in the eye so theres no going back now - Adam
