Hello,

If someone could please go over this for me? :).

I already have:
-Intel 80gig SSD
-DVD drive
-250gig 72000RPM back drive
-4870X2 GFX card, which I shall replace once 69xx are out
-Toughpower QFan 650W PSU
-H50 cooler but I think I'll stick with the Prolimatech, unless of course H50 is better? (does the job nicely, but is loud)

What I am getting:

Questions
1. The cooler should fit in the case as far as I know, so would the 69xx card which shouldn't be bigger than 5970...just a guess. Correct?

2. Do I really need a new PSU? won't Toughpower QFan 650W be enough for this step up till I get the 69xx card (which I may not, 4870x2 is fine for current games).

Thank you in adv for taking your time to answer my questions.

Thank you! that's a saving of £124!

One more issue:

I have 3 screens now, I plug two into the 4870x2, and the 3rd into the onboard gfx card. They work just fine and give me lot of area to work in.

With the new system, I will only be able to have 2 screen since there is no onboard gfx on the new MB, perhaps I could get a really cheap card and put that in there and use for the 3rd screen? would that work? this is only till when/if I get the 69xx. Any suggestions at all?

Thank you

If you get one of the new 6000 series cards you could use 4 screens in 1 card so just connect all the screens up to the new card you are going to get :)

I am waiting for the 6900 series though, they are few (dec??) months away, and buying one of 5900 (been looking at 5970) now would be a pretty bad move for a long term investment.

I was just wondering if there was some cheap card that would work with 4870x2 and on GA-X58A-UD7 MB, then I can have the 3 screens (work related) for the time being.

by cheap how cheap is it?
lol you can always try and trifire?? your 4870x2 with a 4870.....
not sure if this will allow the connection of 3 screens though

That's what I am worried about, and it just sucks! ah well, guess I'll have to make do with 2 screens for few weeks.

Thank you everyone for taking the time to reply.
