Hi All,

How's this for a cheap, basic computer? Its going to replace my netbook and be used for storage mainly, and doing some office work on, so nothing intensive

Only thing I don't need is the hard drive. From reading the reviews, the CPU is a pretty good overclocker too

If I were you I'd spend a little more on a PSU and case, or even just the PSU, but if you're happy with it then go for it, just take the risk.

Also, if you're planning on overclocking then you'll need an aftermarket heatsink most likely...

Nothing wrong with a cheap PSU as long as you dont go far out on overclocking and put a GPU in

Would look at the i3's though which are much better than BD at single threaded applications , als on offer this week.

True, all that's going to be running is a CPU really, so forget my earlier comment... and follow Bacon's suggestion of looking at an i3

Thanks All So the i3 would be better than the AMD CPU even with the AMD CPU slightly overclocked?

Budget would be around £250-£300 so the above i3 setup would be fine budget wise.

Appreciate the input as i'm a bit out of touch with current hardware stuff.

The BD looks good on paper but performs terribly due to its architecture. The only time BD is good is when you are using heavy threaded applications like coding.
An i3 will do everything well but does lack slightly when you get to multithreaded applications however since it has hyperthreading it may only have 2 cores but has 4 threads.
