im finding it hard 2 make up my mind, but heres what ive got so far;

used for web/graphic design applications (dreamweaver, photoshop etc), a lot of multitasking being able to run many apps at the same time, and a 2nd use for gaming. Will also be running 2x 19" screens, but switching over 2 1 SLI mode for gaming at times. p.s. already have 2x 74g raptor from my current rig 2 act as main drive.

Corsair HX 620W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CMPSU-620HXUK) £84.99

Vat : £227.47

Total : £1,527.32

couple of queries;

1. i chose 1 of the cheaper dvdrw drives > havent missed anything have i ?

2. PSU's ? wasnt quite sure *** to go for. any cheaper options that wont effect performance etc. quieter the better tho

3. the cm stacker evolution is currently out of stock, am i missing much by going 4 the std. same price baffles me.

4. last but not least, im interested im a bigger tft, 22" or sumthing. wots peoples opinions on these... recommendations etc. and if i wanted 2 run 3 monitors... i presume i would need an additional gfx adaptor ? pci or sumthing... as i dont think the mobo comes wiv on board gfx ???

Before i start saying anything else, any reason going for 2 GTS over a GTX and then just getting another GPU so you connect a third screen up?

Oh and will you be overclocking?

Yeah, the Stacker 830 is not a good case at all for the money. It'd be a good buy if the price was halved but it's not. The Stacker 110 or the original Stacker would be a much better buy. Failing that it's hard to go wrong with a Lian-Li PC-7 (you might have to move a HDD to the upper bays) or an Antec Eclipse 62 (one often best coolers, in which it is nice to work).

Just been threw the spec and with your budget this is what i came up with:

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 64-Bit Edition DVD - OEM - 1Pk

Intel Xeon 3200 Series X3210 "LGA775 Kentsfield" 2.13GHz (1066FSB)

Abit AB9 Quad GT (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

G.Skill 4GB DDR2 PQ PC2-6400 (2x2GB) CAS5 Dual Channel Kit

Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 500GB ST3500630AS SATA-II 16MB Cache

BFG GeForce 8800 GTX OC 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express)

Pioneer DVR-212 18x18 DVD±RW Serial ATA Dual Layer ReWriter - (Black) OEM

Corsair HX 620W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CMPSU-620HXUK)

Akasa Eclipse 62 Aluminium Case - No PSU

Total : £1,460.35

Ok just added up your system build and it only came out around £1.3500. So if you would like to stay near that i would suggest taking out the 4GB of Ram, leave the Quad which will help for your sort of work and put in 2GB instead.

As for running a 3rd monitor, you can just put a PCI Card in their and run it of that.

For suggestion for 22inc LCDs i have hard nothing but good things about this one, thinking about getting it myself.

Last 2 queries now then.

1. Processor; the quad core zeon 2gz will be a better upgrade than the e6700 2.67gz ? and if so, i presume the mobo is compliant.

2. Gfx Cards, currently i will run 2x 19" screens. Can this be done via just the 1 GTX gfx card ? how would this effect performance against 2x GS's. And games wise, 1x GFX as good/almost as good for games as 2x GS's in SLI ?

Will you be overclokcing, i really wouldent go for the 6700 its a complte waste of money.

Yes the Quad Core will be much better and the ABIT QUADGT Mobo will be fine.

A single GTX card will be able to take 2 monitors.

Sli only has advantages in a few games.

Whats your total budget?

This is what i would recomend.

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 64-Bit Edition DVD - OEM

Intel Xeon 3200 Series X3210 "LGA775 Kentsfield" 2.13GHz (1066FSB)

The Quad Core will help you enormolously with your work, as you said you will be multitasking and using many apps at the same time. This would help more than 4GB of Memory.

Abit AB9 Quad GT (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

This is a very reliable, solid motherboard and will support the Quad Core above. You shouldent have any problems with it.

CellShock 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 PC2-6400C4 800MHz Dual Channel

One of the best Memory around and for that price you cant go wrong. You could quite easily clock it to 1000MHZ speed 4-4-4-12 timings.

BFG GeForce 8800 GTX OC 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express)

The GTX would be the better option rather than two GTS. You will be able to run two monitors of it. No problem.

Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 500GB ST3500630AS SATA-II 16MB Cache

Seagate great, solid Hard Drive.

Pioneer DVR-212 18x18 DVD±RW Serial ATA Dual Layer ReWriter

Great SATA DVD Rewriter, it will also help with cable mangement.

Noctua NH-U12F (Socket LGA775/754/939/940/AM2) Heatsink

Fantastic Cooler. You wont have any problems with it.

Corsair HX 620W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU

The Corsair PSU one of the best around at the moment.

Lian-Li PC-7 PLUS Aluminium Midi-Tower Case - Silver

Great Case, Build quality, fantastic. The GTX will fit in.

Total : £1,281.75

If you have any question just ask.

yes i will be looking to overclock the cpu. but i havent had any experience in this before. but you gotta start sumwhere.

i presume the xion uve specced will OC ? where do you expect i can take it ? also, will i require a new/upgraded cpu fan to do so other that the retail std ?

im happy to go 4 just the 1 GTX if it will run 2x monitors.

is the performance upgrade any better with the ram uve specced as its £70 more expensive. (jaffa cake)

as for budget, as low as possible, im around the 1300 pound mark. absolute limit would be 1500 but obviously would rather stay there unless im compromising on spec in a big way.

could u answer my last couple questions above then i think im FINISHED :D

Opps sorry dude :).

The Quad core will clock, you will need a aftermart cooler though and i recomend the Noctune one the one i speced.

Im not sure what you mean by your question about the Memory being 70pound more expensive? Care to elaborate? :)

i was refering 2 jaffa cakes spec on the memory.

if i was prepared 2 spend the extra few pennies, would

Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "LGA775 Kentsfield" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
£291.99
(£343.09)

be better than the

Intel Xeon 3200 Series X3210 "LGA775 Kentsfield" 2.13GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
£244.99
(£287.86)

taking in2 account i want 2 order 2day, and xion arent available yet. also, i do play games and xion description refers 2 these processors 4 servers etc.

please excuse my ignorance, but i do appreciate such quick replies

That depends if you would like to spend that extra money.

The Xeon chips are made of higher composite material since they are desinged to run 24/7.
