Think you good pretty good system there, do need an operating system.

I'm running the 2180 on my spare pc with the Arctic cooler @ 3gig keeping temps under 50c full load.

Rob :)

omg you've virtually got the same system as me there jamemoff (apart from PSU and hdd) :D runs like a dream and you'll be able to clock the E2180 to 3.5Ghz pretty easily

hello agian closeratio thanks m8 you have been a great help :)

only thing i wann ask is the mobo have read on the forums that there is a lot of problems with this board or have they been fixed?

erm... well you see I've had no problems with my board yet. It has been less than a month since I built this rig but ther'es nothin wrong with it so far, and I have been stressing it quite a bit. I have heard of other people's problems with this board, but they seem to be all the people with the Rev 1.1 boords, and I've got the Rev 2 board, which I think has been improved quite a bit.

Now I don't know if overclockers sell the Rev 2 board yet, or if they've still got stock of the Rev1.1 boards, you might have to ask. Thing is though I'm just one person and I might be lucky, it might be helpful to see if anyone else replies, and if you're in doubt then get an Asus, because they tend to be really reliable.

Yeah it's fine apart form one issue I had which was partly due to one issue which was my fault because I didn't read the instruction booklet lol. I mean don't get me wrong it's a very stable board (although that's down to the chipset), but the thing is if you leave the memory multiplier set to auto, for some reason it runs your RAM at 4 times the FSB speed, so whenI was clocking at 3Ghz I was scratching my head wondering why it wouldn't post at anything over 2.4 or something, which is when I realised that when I was setting the FSB at 300 (to get the CPU to 3GHz) it was trying to run the 800Mhz RAM at 1200Mhz lol.

I think you've just got to check over everythin before you make any changes, and you won't have any problems. Might want to get a second opinion on someone else who has this board though because I might just be lucky.

good stuff :) i expect you'll have one back soon. like i say though, although newer revisions are usually improved (which this one is) you still might want to make sure that there are little to no issues with the newer boards. It only tends to happen (from what i've seen) when people are using RAM models that arne't on the gigabyte compatibility list.

There's a list on their website here of the RAM that the DS3R supports. There are many RAM modules that aren't on the list that do work, but the ones on this list are guaranteed to work

It's hard to say. That might be something you would want to start a new thread for because in all honesty I don't completely know. In theory all RAM should work in this board, but it doesn't, so I wouldn't know with that RAM, and there's less chance of someone with that mobo/ram combination looking at this thread and replying as opposed to you starting a new thread just asking the question whether it'll work or not.

If you could stretch your budget to a few pounds more, you could get the Geil memoery that's on offer at the moment as I believe I saw that in that table somewhere. Might not be the same memory though
