Spec Check pretty please?

Have pulled the above together but it is taking me a fair bit over budget of circa £1000-1200 :eek:

I am after a rig that is going to be:

Good for gaming
Good for photo editing- hence the expensive monitor (is this the best to get in 22" range?)
Good for 3d modelling- hence i7
Pretty much future proof (for at least 4-5 years!)

Can anyone suggest an alternative spec to bring me closer to the budget or have I got to bite the bullet with what I have got...

forgot to add, I plan to overclock too- is that ram better than the corsair xms stuff?

sadly cannot fit a 24 inch monitor in my workspace. Can just squeeze a 22 inch in at a push

I am reluctant to go i5 as I want something future proof I can upgrade in 3-4 years time with a new CPU etc.

Are the Asus cards better than creative these days? Been an age since I upgraded my rig..audigy was the dogs danglies back then

Is that antec cpu quiet? I also like a veryyyy quiet system hehe

is that right about i7 being no more futureproof than i7? I bought socket 939 pretty much on release and it served me well up till now by adding extra ram and overclocking an opteron up to 3ghz but I think the time has come to upgrade the rig.

I just want to be able to buy a platform that will serve me well for a few years and iterations of processors, if possible...

switching gfx card and case brings me close to the spec I want and saves a few hundred quid! What am I missing when looking at this system? Why is it so much cheaper?

Pretty much settled on this spec now- have ditched the 5850 for 2x5770 in crossfire as I understand they will offer better fps in games.

Would any kind soul be able to check this spec and confirm all is OK? The only concerns I have relate to the PSU being up to the task- is 650W enough?- and how the heck I attach those fans to the cpu cooler? The brackets are out of stock!

I plan on overclocking- is the ram the best for that task too?

not too sure mr huddy, I think 4Ghz+ on that board might be an ask but the boards that do it are an extra £100

Ok thanks, I'm in the market for one. CPC have always had this in their Performance Elite list but this has been surpassed with the AsusP6T Se.. No surprises really.. They seem to favour Asus.

From what I understand you can surpass 4Ghz on this board with hyperthreading off....

Thanks stulid have swapped that part and the cpu over now too.

Hmm good point- just thought the x-fire 5770s are better than one 5850?

Also unsure as to what other devices I would use that are pci-express?
