Sorry folks could I have your thoughts on the below please ? I've changed from the asus pro motherboard partly due to reading the issues that some folks are having (realise there might be some with the MSI, but not reading any makes you a little more confident) + the 20% vat rebate

and changed from the obligitary corsair 4gb 9-9-9-24 to 8gb of Geil Ram as it's also a very good deal.

Intel Core i7-2600K 3.40GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor with FREE Lost Planet 2 PC Game - Retail £223.32 1 £223.32
MSI P67A-GD65 Intel P67 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard - (Sandybridge) £120.82 1 £120.82
GeIL 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz VALUE PLUS Dual Channel (GVP38GB1600C9DC) £76.66 1 £76.66
Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (HD105SI) £32.33 1 £32.33
Thermaltake Frio CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775/LGA1155/LGA1156/LGA1366/AM2/AM2+/AM3) £30.82 1 £30.82

I'm a little more nervous with the Geil Ram as it's the only part of my current config (q6600 + 4 sticks of 1gb Geil) that I thought might have limited my overclock (most likely to be me as the limiting factor though ;) ).

Your thoughts and advice would be really appreciated before I hit the confirm button.

Cheers again

the reason that your last overclock was limited is probably because you had all the ram slots populated, hence more volts going there, limiting your oc.

otherwise, i think thats a very decent setup, what video card have you got?

Cheers raikesi , the video card which will become the bottleneck is an ATI 4890 Black Edition, I'm running that on a 22" LCD at a max resolution of 1680x1050 so it should be ok for the time being I hope.

The Geil ram is fine, it was just the amount of sticks before, like it was said above.

But as it will be 2 sticks of large capacity it will be fine, Geil are a very good make of memory so don't worry there.

The 4890 is still a powerful card, ok its only DX10, but it will still be fine for some time to come.
