Hey,

The other day I posted a thread asking for suggestions on upgrades to my current system, it turns out I'd need to spend quite a bit more than I wanted to really notice a difference so I've upped my budget - I'll have to sell a few gadgets but hey-ho. Can you lot please check my proposed spec and, if required, suggest changes please?

I'll be using some of my existing kit, namely:

Cooler: Corsair H50-1 w/ 2x 120mm Akasa Vipers (if it already has the correct CPU mount, anyone know where I can get a Socket 1155 if not?)
SSD: Intel 120GB X25-M
HDD: 500GB Seagate Constellation 2.5"
Sound Card: Creative X-Fi Xtreme Music (PCI)

Cheers,

Kona

Thanks for the suggestions so far guys :)

I don't plan on adding another GPU any time soon, I've got a Corsair HX520 at the moment - are the Antec New Modular PSU's any good? Specifically the 750W version!

If you have the 1156 fitting? then its the same. I think the -1 in the name meant it does?

Also what case have you got?

i would agree with stulid and Surveyor about the Gen£ board and Ram.

also, you could hold off on a new PSU, as the one you currently have should be enough for a GTX570.

I was going to suggest that but general recommendations for a GTX 570 seem to be more in the 600W area.

Also the HX 520 could be a few years old now so may not be able to output the same power as when it was new.

The OP could give it a go and then buy another PSU if it doesn't work out.

Thanks for the great suggestions guys, how does this new spec look? Ideally I want to replace the PSU for future proofing, it's under £100 anyway so it's not a great issue :)

As always, suggestions and comments welcome!

Thanks,

Yup it does have the 1156 fitting, thanks for that :)

I have an NZXT Phantom case, it's huge!

Thanks for all the help guys, I've placed the order - should be here Tuesday and I hope to have it built before the weekend :)

Time to start a fresh thread re: the Z68 chipset and all of the new features it has.
