Well im planning on doing my first build sometime in the next few weeks.

PC will be mainly used for gaming and apps like 3ds max/maya/photoshop.

Are all the parts compatible, and will they fit in the case ive chosen as ive heard the graphics card is quite a large one.

Thanks.

Nice system their.

The 8800 GTX is good of course lol, but for that particular case you will have to take the Hard Drive cage out to fit the GTX in. Take a look at this.

To save a bit of money you could go for this PSU:

Unless you wanting to go SLI in the future?, if so stick with the Corsair 620.

The memory i would change to this stuff:

Other than that, very nice system.

cheers for the advices guys, ill have to have a look at that link to see which case takes my fancy, and fits a gtx heh.

I was planning on having the pc future proof, i.e. SLI, didn't notice that memory was on this week only :)

cheers

Assuming your budget is around £1000, can I tempt you with this instead...

Most here would recommend XP over Vista. Too many unresolved issues especially gaming!

EDIT: More about the Quad-Core Xeon here ;)

Right ive decided on a new case after looking at that compatiblity list

also, i am a bit of a novice when it comes to pc's (this is my first build) what would be the point in changing to the Crucial ram? Is the Geil ram not faster, i won't be venturing into overclocking or anything.

Nice case.

If you were overclocking the Crucial is rated slower but will overclock like no tommorrow and is very reliable.

But since your not , go for this:

Ah didn't realise the quad core would be that cheap, for what my pc will be used for particuarly 3ds max/maya/photoshop im taking it that Quad Core you speced would be a hell of allot better than an dual core e6600, to warrant knocking the graphics card down to a gts for instance? Would there be quite a performance boost? (My nubness strikes again :D)

1280 x 1024 atm on a 17", although ill be planning on picking up a larger monitor sometime in the near future.
Like mentioned, the GTS will be fine for that res. But if you plan to upgrade the monitor, consider the 640MB version ;)
