Hi there,


This is a spec for my dad. The PC will be used for internet and office use, with the odd bit of photo editing and CAD/graphical work. Nothing too heavy.

I've persuaded him to try a little bit of overclocking: 2.8GHz will be plenty. Stock volts preferably to keep the heat down.

2 IDE channels are required (for 2 HDDs and 2 optical drives) hence choosing the P5N-E over a DS3 or P5B.

He already has a Case and PSU (Tagan 380W ATX2.0). The PSU sits above the CPU socket, so I chose a low-profile cooler.

I can't see any obvious improvements to make there other than probably changing the graphics card to a 7600GT which is slightly cheaper.

I can't see a 7600GT which is cheaper.

I thought the 7600GS would be the best choice, as no games will be played, and passive cooling will mean it'll be much quieter than the GT.

My mistake, I didn't look at the prices before posting, it is about £3 more for the OcUK card but it is more powerful, not that it makes much of a difference I guess.
