Afternoon all, had a fiddle around on the ocuk site building a spec for my brother. Requirements are directx 9 gaming (he recently saw me playing TF2 and wants to upgrade). His pc atm is so bad anything would be a massive upgrade. We wont be overclocking, he isnt too into computers and i dont have the time to try it so that may explain all the ATI stuff (i thought it offered better value for money without overclocks). Please correct me if wrong but here is what ive drawn up.

The graphics card for this build was the item most unsure about, i know all about the 8800GT but he flat out refuses to pay that much on it, all i know is budget is £100 for the card.
cd drive/monitor/mouse/keyboard are not required. So... whatcha think? Complete budget is £400-450.
Cheers chaps :)

This would be a lot faster for not much more:

What you had was pretty good though. I think that 4 GiB RAM is a bit overkill in a rig in this price range.

I would rather go intel, not tried them myself, everyone else raves about them though. Looks like a good spec, just a couple of Qs; is that PSU sufficient? and is that the best GFX card for £100 for dx9 gaming?
Thanks :)

I'm not an ATi person anymore so haven't kept a full eye on them however at £111 (inc VAT) wouldn't this: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-083-PC&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=416 be a significant upgrade compared to what is listed (2900GT)? I mean it's seemingly a fair bit faster (if going by recent benchmarks) is ETA for 23rd Nov, for just about £10 more than budget, I'd say the performance rise would perhaps be worth that extra £10? That be upto you to decide.
