Motherboard fried so need new setup, old was 939 so not much options other than to upgrade CPU etc, which I needed anyway.

So far I have picked
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 6400+ Black Edition 3.20GHz (Socket AM2) - Retail
OcUK 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-6400C5 800MHz DDR2 Dual Channel Kit
OCZ StealthXStream 600w Silent SLI Ready ATX2 Power Supply
Asus M2N32 WS Pro nForce 590 SLi (Socket AM2) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

PowerColor ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO SCS3 SILENT 512MB DDR2 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail
or
Gigabyte GeForce 8500 GT Silent Fanless 512MB DDR2 HDTV/DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GV-NX85T512HP)

ATI has dual dvi which is a bonus, but the NVidia has SLI for a later date... don't really play games, old machine still had a R8500 in it :p
Possibly a Gigabyte GeForce 8600 GT Silent Fanless 512MB DDR2 HDTV/DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GV-NX86T512H)? Dual DVI, Silent, SLI, more money than I really wanted to pay (@72)

Everything must be silent, no fans etc. Any suggestions on possibly quieter PSUs?

I am not too sure on the motherboard choice, I like it because it has loads of SATA since I have 8 HDDs to power. (4 are old PATA, I have a card for that, 2 will be dropped for a new SATA soon)

Suggestions? Intel alternatives?

The PSU is quite clearly overkill but considering it only costs about £3 more than the 520w version that I would have picked you might as well go with it. This will work out slightly more expensive overall but it is quad core and offers a fair deal of overclocking potential. I'm not much of a fan of SLi in general and particularly not with low range cards so I wouldn't bother about it not being possible with this motherboard.

Thanks. My previous setup I had to replace a 431w PSU because it couldnt run all the HDDs.

Overclocking in my last concern. Oh and for the Intel board I will need a new HS too since my Thermalright 120 (SI or XP not sure) only has the mount for the AMD sockets.

Hardly anything now, dont really game any more, general usage and movie watching. It's an output to my projector, only need 720p my old machine did that easily.

Just don't want to have to upgrade for a long time and like it to be quiet.
