if you are going to spend that much on the cpu ,get the e7200 instead as its newer tech and faster however i am not sure if the e7200 is compatable with the Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L Intel P35 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard out of the box or does it require a bios flash. wait for confirmation on that before you make the change

change the hdd to a sumsung F1 spinpoint 500GB

I agree with jak731 get the E7200 only £6 more, better performance. If you are going to over clock an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775) will do the job nicely.
