What you think?

Any recommendations for lower cost and higher performance?

Thanks.

get 320GB samsung F1, also you can get 6400 Ram and save £30

you've not listed a power supply

whats your budget?

what the hell are you doing up at 5 am?

4GB RAM will be better utilised by x64 OS. Vista 64-bit is better than the XP version :)

9600GT is overkill if not gaming, also requires more power. IMO consider mATX onboard or ATI 3400 or NVIDIA 9500 ;)

EDIT: How about...
  • OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-6400C5 Dual Channel Vista Gold Series DDR2 (OCZ2G8004GK) £49.99
  • Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail £108.99
  • Asus P5E-VM HDMI Intel G35 Micro-ATX (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £69.99
  • Samsung SpinPoint F1 250GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (HD252HJ) £27.99
  • Samsung SH-S223F/BEBE 22x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer ReWriter (Black) - OEM £12.99
  • Antec NSK 4480B Mini Tower Case (Black) - 380W Earth Watts PSU £45.99

For an extra £3 you can get a 320GB Samsung f1. It's worth the little bit more.

I would change that optical drive, a few people have had that model die after a few days. Mine lasted 2 days I think.

Take a look here.

Thanks for the input guys.

I am happy with the above quoted system with the changes you guys have suggested.

Which optical drive should I go for instead?

Also would the onboard graphics be good enough when working in CorelDRAW and Photoshop? Last thing we need is a computer which can't handle large graphics.

Any recommendations for a card reader external or internal?

Budget tbh is about £500 inc vat, and should mainly allow for reliable machines which can handle working with large files without getting sluggish.

I will most likely then go for Vista X64 but the firm is buying these from elsewhere. Using it at home on E8400 on Abit IP35 Pro with 4GB ram, its sweet ^^

I was up at 5am cos I have the most messed up sleeping pattern 0.o

Thanks again.

Those programs need loads of RAM, the (standard) GFX's OcUK stock are designed for gaming & don't offer any advantage even if you go for the fastest/expensive. A quad-core is also an added bonus :)

Thought so :) I guess 4GB would be fine for now then, if the machines struggle I will add another 4gb totalling to 8gb.

Also added to the spec an internal Scythe card reader.

Anyone have any recommendations for an optical drive?

Hi Guys.

I didn't end up buying this system as we had further renovations so decided to wait.

Anyone care to offer any updated suggestions?

Thanks.
