Hi

I've been ask by my cousin to spec him a pc and well below is what i've come up with. His absolute max budget is a grand but im trying to get it a bit below.

He'd just be using it for gaming. Wont be overclocked.

Anything i should change ?

Looking fairly good, one thing I would personaly change is the motherboard, go for the P45 chipset and not worry about ddr3 & ddr2 varients.

This, you can get cheaper P45 motherboards than that.

All looks good ,but personally i would up your storage to at least 500gb as i often find even that is not enough.

Storage is a more dependant on the user, but ideally bigger is better. Also instead of the 500GB get the 640GB Sammsung.

Hi

Does he already have an operating system? If not I'd add vista 64bit to that spec, it'll make full advantage of the 4gb of memory.

Like it's been said, go for a P45 board, much better for the money. Something like this

For £11 more you can get the 640gb samsung hard drive

You should say to your friend to consider overclocking, get a good cpu cooler and get the speed up ;) that e8500 can get pretty high, I've currently got my e8400 @ 3.8ghz and that's without increasing the voltage.
