Anything you would change on this spec?

Thanks,

I would drop down to a 920, if your overclocking there no difference what so ever. Also the Ud3R is better/just as good as the UD7 so UD5 is basically useless imo. Also do you need 12gb of ram? if you do theres a lot cheaper sets that have c9 or could even get c8

Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Intel X58 (Socket 1366) DDR3 Motherboard £151.99

Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ) 2.66GHz (Nehalem) (Socket LGA1366) - OEM £167.99

OCZ Obsidian 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600Mhz Triple Channel Kit (OCZ3OB1600LV6GK) 2x £114.99 = £229.98

Or C8 ram

OCZ Gold 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 (1600MHz) Tri-Channel (OCZ3G1600LV6GK) 2x £132.99 = £265.98

Rest looks good.

I would probably get this cheaper motherboard:

if you are overclocking i would get a core i7 920:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=cp-283-in

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=cp-280-in

also i would get two of the following ram sets if you need 12gb of ram:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=my-090-gl&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1389

a decent 800w psu will power a pair of hd5970 graphics cards and an overclocked core i7 920:

An SSD is also worth considering too.

I do lots of High Def Video Editing and Photo Editing so 12GB is a must really. Which 12GB Ram would you recommend, is the XMS3 not any good?

Is it ok to not buy the RAM in 12GB pre-packaged sets?

Ok so change to an i7 920 and a GA-X58A-UD3R. Would like to keep the 1000W for future upgrades.

Is the rest ok, i.e. fans, DVD, card reader?

the ram you specced or what fallen god suggested is fine.

the Antec 100w psu linked too is £70 cheaper and still decent.

everything else is good

i7 920 a better clocker acording to the results on forums and cheaper 50 quid saved

Go for the gigabyte UD3R its cheaper than the UD5, got all the same features apart from fancy heat sink on chipset, and one lan port in stead of 2, and save your self about 70 quid

put the 120 quid saved towards 2 x Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB
which are a lot faster in raid using the sata 6GB they will eat those F3's for breakfast.

Get one F3 for storage of critical files

u only need a corsair 750 unless u planning on tri fire so a little more can be saved here

His sig gives it away aswell ;p. May i just ask why 2 different types of fans, the apache and the sharkoon? Or is it just a personal choice for both?

Fair question, I was going to use the Apache for the CPU Cooler and the Sharkroon as case fans. The Apache moves more air I think so thought it was better suited?
