Whats the verdic on this low budget build
not after any thing fancy. Just to play the odd game and live and die on it when black ops come out!! Other then the odd bit of mw2 and hl2 which is playable right now. Just want to get set for games coming out q4 and next
year.

So currently
p5-nt
3gb ram. Got 2gb and 2 x 512
500w nrp psu
e2140 with stock cooler
250gb 7200 hdd
ide dvdrw drive
x1950xtx
win7 64bit

planned build
p5nt
4gb(2x2) ram. Chucking the 2x512.
corsair 620w, unless the nrp works.
Q6600 on h50 w/c
keeping with 250gb as i dont need space unless i pick up a 10000 rpm hdd ????
Sata dvdrw not decided which one???
Xfire hd5770
and win7 64bit

i dont have a lot of money extra after bills and my juicy bmw so its literly took me 3 months to get to my current spec win 7 being the biggest hurdle!!!!! so as you can see i might just have it ready for black ops lol!

what version of windows are you using?

id get:
Q6600
4gb Ram depending on os version
5850
700w modxstream
and if u have cash get the 40gb intel ssd for os/game loading times and efficiency
as for sata dvdrw, any, the difference in price is £5/6 from top to bottom, any will do.

ok the 5850, yer i know its better etc etc, also im trading in two cards i have @ £72 total at cex and getting two 5770's for £149 (£110 each - £72). plus the nearest 5850 was in manchester but thats gone now! and im affording the 5770's by trading in two x1950xtx's. just the way it is at the moment!!

also i know ssd's are good but there a bit pricey

as for the dvd drive it dont bother me, so long as it reads and burns the odd music disc for the car im good!

not looked at ocz much but will certainly look

Your motherboard has nvidia chipset if memory serves so crossfire will not work. If budget is a problem then I'll probably do away with h50 and just get a decent aircooler instead. Sata DVD drive doesn't really over any advantage over pata ones so IMO if your current one still works I'll just stick to it. 700w is overkill I'll just go for the 500/600w variants.

yer nvidia chip, didnt give that a thought.

so what cards same specs as the 5770 am i looking at. ive focused on ati not thinking about it!!

Edit: same kinda money will get me just a 9800!

so i suppose im back to single cards then on ati. as nvidia are expensive compared to ati specs, AND im a ati guy even thou i prefer intel to amd!!! all the same stuff really!!!!

just a shame green and reds cant work together and bring both there knowledge together for a monster card for serious gaming! like once a year or every time a new dx version comes out for example!, i know its business and there secrets are there secrets! i realise getting one over on the other has driven cards and cpu's forward massively but the above isnt hard and wouldn't alter that fact i dont think

any way what about the 5850 as cex show no 5870's, a single 5870 is better the a xfire 5770 i think by at least 20-30fps im most games and res

only prob is that its right up in Manchester!!

5850 is perfectly capable, overclock it to 5870 speed and you're looking at 5 percent performance difference so that's what I'll put my money on.

Ok, cool so arpart from a change of gpu spec all else is ok, you think that would comftably run a 20" screen? And were would you roughly say the settings would be

i had a thought this morning, at least with one card i can run two moniters plus use eyefinity

cheers for the help above much apprciated and im dam glad i ask i was off out tho buy two 5770's friday!!
