Going to start saving and will be coming into a little bit of money in the next few weeks. So just wondering if this spec is ok, so that ive got a general idea of what i need to save. Will be used for gaming. Will probably watercool in the future and will also aim for eyefinity in the future. ideally looking to keep it below the £750 mark.
Anyway heres what i came up with;

Asus ATI Radeon HD 6950 OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card - £209.99

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor with FREE Operation Flashpoint Red River Game - £161.99

MSI P67A-C45 Intel P67 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard - (Sandybridge) ** B3 REVISION ** - £99.98

Coolermaster Silent Pro Modular 700W Power Supply - £79.99

Coolermaster CM-690 II Advanced Dominator Case - Black - £73.98

Seagate Barracuda 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (ST1000DL002) - £39.98

Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX4GX3M2A1600C9) - £39.98

Samsung SH-S223C/BEBE 22x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM - £16.99

**B Grade** Titan Fenrir Evo CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775/LGA1156/LGA1155/LGA1366/AMD K8/AM2/AM2+/AM3) - £28.99

total: £751.88

Dont need a monitor or OS. Gaming at 1920x1200

Obviously some items are pre order but its going to be a few weeks until i get the cash, so just wanting a heads up really to make sure ive got everything right, as i might keep an eye on the MM and pick up anything i can 2nd hand.

That spec looks good! The only thing I'm worried about is your B-grade cooler, as you only get 30 day warranty with b-grade items, and you can get the Corsair A50 for a similar price if your really sticking to a budget

Yea i suppose having the option to add another 6950 in the future would be a good idea. Maybe a mobo with 16x/16x would be better, or would 16/8 be ok? As far as the fenrir is concerned, i just picked a cheapish cooler so i can overclock until i get the watercooling in. What board would you get Stulid?

Ah kool, interesting. Il swap for that mobo then. Will a 700W supply be suffient to potentially power a pump and crossfired 6950's? Also the new revision of the fenrir doesnt seem to support 1155?

700W is ample.

Socket 1156 is the same fitting as 1155;) read the small description along the bottom of the product page.

Have you seen this PSU? - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-004-XF&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=1497 its cheaper, its a Seasonic design, and it has two 6pin and a further two 6+2pin PCI-E connectors for the two 6950 cards.

Review here of both the 650w+750W - http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story&reid=216

Ah right, haha been out the loop for a while. So it comes to £787 with the better mobo and newer revision fenrir. Been watching the 'spec me' threads here for a while so pleased i didnt get too much wrong. Going to have to see how much mula i get for my birthday now then. I may do a bump on this thread in a few weeks time just to double check before i buy. Thanks for the help :)

No problems, did you see the cheaper PSU above, its not modular cabling, but is a solid unit, and always do check back before order to see if something cant be swapped for a cheaper item without losing any functionality or drop in quality.

My cable management has never been brilliant so i went for the modular purely for cosmestic/cooling reasons, but im open to changing it, but for the sake of a tenner im not that fussed. Regarding the gpu, whats the difference between a card with a refernce cooler and without? Will i be able to add a waterblock to that gpu should i decide i want to go the whole hog with the wc?

Thats something I am not 100% sure about, it stands to reason that waterblock designers would have used a reference style card to design their product around, if a non reference board varies in any way, then problems with fitments may occur.

Yea good, i picked the asus with the 2gig of vram in order to unlock the shaders. I was going to get dual 5850's but seemed silly when it would be more than once 695(7)0 and the single card makes it more futureproof.

Ah ok, was thinking of not overclocking for a few months and putting the money saved from the fenrir towards the wc loop. Thanks again Stulid.
